Lenten Retreat: Approved unto God
Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Lenten Event. You helped to make it a great success. We here at Canterbury were so blessed by your presence and we loved having you here. We hope that you had a wonderful time and we are delighted you came and we look forward to hosting you again, hopefully soon!
Featuring: The Right Reverend John W. Howe, D.D.March 5-6, 2010Beginning: 5:00pm FridayEnding: 4:00pm Saturday We are again very honored to have our own Bishop Howe as the guest speaker for this meaningful retreat. You are invited to come, enjoy, and be spiritually enriched by his presentation: "Approved unto God".
A "steward" is someone given the care and management of that which belongs to another. As Christians we understand that everything that we think of as belonging to us in truth is God's. We echo King David's confession, that "All things come from you, O Lord, and of your own have we given you." We recognize that, as in the parable of the talents, we will be asked to "give an account" of how we have managed our time, talent, and treasure. Our Retreat this year focuses on this great theme of what is means to be a faithful steward, one who will be "approved unto God" on the last day.
In four sessions over two days, Bishop Howe, Rev. Fr. Al Jenkins and Rev. Don Lyon will invite us to revisit stewardship, for ourselves, our Parish, in our lives and as an tool for Outreach.
Session 1: "Put More In, Get More Out"
Session 2: "A parish Model for Stewardship"
Session 3: "The Stewardship of Our Everday Lives"
Session 4: "Developing a Vision for Outreach"
