For the next 40 days I’m going to explore a magical place that’s always available to you but often elusive…
It’s a place of peace, of contentment, of security, of support.
It’s a place we all long for. In the dark crevices of our mind and heart we yearn for it. We need it.
It’s called home.
I’d like to invite you to experience something different…
We all like routine. But too much of anything can become monotonous and stale. Being from the south I grew up on great barbecue; low and slow roasted on an open pit for hours, tender and juicy. I think BBQ will be served at the heavenly banquet! But if I had barbecue for dinner every night, after a while (it might be a good long while) I would long for something different. Though it can sustain you, a steady diet of just one thing will get old.
For the next 40 days I invite you to something different: to take five minutes from your day to invest in something that will bless, inspire and help you in each step of life’s journey.
It’s no secret we live in a me-first culture of self-gratification. We often fall for the bait and get caught in the trap. Life is so much more! If we know the truth, we know there is a richer, better, more excellent way. It is not about us, it’s about something bigger. Something beyond what we can see and touch. It’s about Faith, Hope and Love. The greatest of these is love.
So for the next 40 days I invite you, no I dare you to come with me on a journey – a journey where we consider ways we can give instead of get, pour out instead of fill up, open up instead of shut down.
Our hope is that by joining us on this journey you will experience a few things…
You’ll be encouraged every day. There is a lot of darkness in the world and questions concerns that can weigh us down. We believe a few hundred words (not just 140 characters) might bring some light, push the clouds back and let us see something more.
You’ll share the richness of Canterbury’s mission and how it is making a difference in the world. This sacred space has been preserved for a reason and we discover almost daily how people grow, learn, heal, hope, dream, discover, change because of wandering on the Canterbury campus.
You’ll experience a few “a-ha” moments – moments of clarity, insight and direction that will bring you an extra measure of peace and hope. Things we all could use more of.
Join us in the 40 day journey. Join us in an essential mission that the world needs. Partner with us in this work by being, giving, sharing, working and more. Be blessed by a sacred space carved out in this world to bring light and hope; we could all use some of that these days!
