I lead a thriving publishing and marketing company. We used to lease office space but have discovered the advantages of working virtually. However, working virtually, while very efficient means you sometimes have to work harder at keeping lines of communication open. So our team meets together on a weekly basis.
I like having our staff meetings at Canterbury. Oh sure it’s convenient. But its more than that. There’s something about the ambiance, the atmosphere there. It’s calming. It’s peaceful – even inspiring. Hey, life is crazy. Life is hard. So having the opportunity to meet as a team to work through issues to strategize, plan and yes wrestle with problem accounts, and difficult situations is vital. Doing this in an atmosphere of peace and beauty, well, that just makes the hard parts of life a little easier to handle.
One of the nice things about Canterbury besides the general atmosphere and incredible hospitality of the staff is the diversity of environments. I’ve lead board meetings there with a full compliment of audio-visual support. I’ve talk workshops. I’ve done a funeral, been part of a worship service there where the most important presence felt wasn’t just peace, it was God.
I’ve met with friends and clients in a comfortable living room space, getting acquainted by the fire. I’ve even found places to be on my own where I can think and dream, wandering through woods and embracing the beauty of nature.
Canterbury is a gift not just to me but the Central Florida community. But Canterbury as an organization, as a community needs partners. I am one. I hope you will consider being one too.
