Day 32: When “Holy” draws near

I did it again.  I was watching the movie Pay It Forward last night and sure enough I felt my emotions rising and my eyes filled with tears.  It’s a story of broken, wounded, hurting people finding relief, forgiveness, reconciliation, purpose and true godly affection in others.  Watch it with a box or two of tissues close by.

There is something HOLY, as Beuchner says when we are moved by what we see and feel.  We touch something beyond ourselves, something eternal when kindness and compassion are manifest in our midst.

So today, be generous to someone in need.   Be kind and considerate to those around you.  Smile and compliment the check-out girl at the store.  Open your eyes and see those around you who you can encourage, support and inspire.  Forgive and be reconciled to those who are estranged.  Cheer on those who are trying their best.

When we do these things we make the world a little more like heaven as we sense the holy drawing near.
